Chris DeRose joins "Desire" as mob
boss Joey Gamarra, who seeks
retribution when Louis (Nate Haden)
"assaults" his daughter Cara (Kelly
Albanese).
Although born in Brooklyn, DeRose
grew up in New Jersey with his
sister and loving mother. He also
spent three years in an orphanage as
a young child. He obtained a BA at
Rutgers University and studied at
the University of Miami, where he
earned a degree in criminology. A
former New Jersey police officer,
DeRose has appeared in numerous
films, including Frank Harris's
"Lockdown," "Aftershock" and
"Breakaway," featuring Joe Estevez.
He also starred in "Ghost of the
Civil Dead" which is based on a true
story of the penal system. DeRose
played the lead character of Dino in
ABC's long running daytime drama
"General Hospital," and completed
guest appearances in "Kojak" and the
legendary investigation drama "The
Rockford Files," featuring James
Garner. He also had a lead on an ABC
Aaron Spelling series entitled "San
Pedro Beach Bums."
Additionally, DeRose is President
and founder of "Last Chance for
Animals," an international nonprofit
animal advocacy organization
dedicated to eliminating animal
exploitation. In 1997, he published
his autobiography, In Your Face,
which earned him the Courage of
Conscience International Peace
Award.
DeRose was recently married in
Uganda and currently lives with his
wife in Los Angeles. When he is not
acting, he investigates animal
cruelty and exploitation cases. He
also enjoys traveling to exotic
places.
